At the latest edition of Miart, just concluded, Bernini Gallery took part in the event with the installation The Oresteia, Aeschylus’ Trilogy – The Roots of the Future, curated by Daniele Daminelli / STUDIO2046.
The Oresteia unfolded as a three-dimensional triptych: a poetic and visionary portal capable of evoking the past to imagine the future—a space where historically inspired furnishings meet contemporary art pieces and objects, including:
• The Big Dream, the modular sofa designed by Daniele Daminelli, a one-of-a-kind piece made from folded aluminum blocks, with upholstered seat cushions and backrests covered in a precious fabric born from the collaboration between the historic Japanese company Hosoo and film director David Lynch. Completing the collection is a coffee table made of perforated sheet metal: an element as surprisingly simple as it is original.
• Glaucus Atlanticus, the folding screen by Agostino Arrivabene, hand-painted on silk in collaboration with Misha, under the artistic direction of Daniele Daminelli / STUDIO2046. Composed of silk panels decorated using traditional Chinese techniques, it features at its center the visionary image of the Australian mollusk Glaucus Atlanticus—also known as the “blue dragon”—chosen by the artist as his own alter ego. Surrounding it, a constellation of microscopic forms inspired by the illustrations of Ernst Haeckel weaves together science and poetry, nature and art, offering an immersive journey into the microcosm and the unsettling beauty of the natural world.
• Ebermés, the sculpture by Francesco Vezzoli, features the headless marble body of Hebe—evocative of Neoclassical classicism—combined with the bearded head of a Roman-era Hermes. The result is a pastiche that deconstructs and reassembles the identity of historical imagery, creating a tension between masculine and feminine, idealized youth and mythological maturity. A work that explores the fluidity of identity and the dialogue between genders, inviting new aesthetic and conceptual interpretations.
• Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Eumenides: sculptural and narrative lighting pieces—respectively wall sconces, a pendant lamp, and a luminous column—created by Daniele Daminelli. These light fixtures embody strength, purity, and refined elegance, suspended between past and future, with striking metal structures. A harmonious fusion of ancient motifs and contemporary language (2700°K).
We are proud to have presented a project that fully reflects our identity as promoters and producers of culture: a narrative that crosses eras and languages, and that continues to live on within our gallery, open by appointment./
