designer biography
ARRIGONI & GIANNOBBI

Arrigo Arrigoni was born in Bellinzago Lombardo in 1935 and graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic. Giorgio Giannobi was born in Seregno in 1937 and in 1964 he graduated in Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. Their joint work began in 1961, when they were still students at the Polytechnic; they dealt with stand fittings, furnishing and industrial design problems. After graduating, they opened a studio in Milan, became interested in interior architecture, followed a refresher course in urban planning techniques and took part in numerous competitions. They have been collaborating with Busnelli Export since 1965; the result of this collaboration are the products Myrice, Manasse, Ghibea, Dafne, Mehari, Adaia, Dicla (see photo) and the Galaia furniture series. In particular, the Piumotto sofa was born from the creativity of Arrigoni and Giannobbi, which was one of the most important products of the Busnelli production in the 70s, and which also saw it protagonist in a massive advertising campaign as well as a commercial on the Rai Carosello with the participation of Franca Valeri. /
