Mario BELLINI

Mario Bellini is a world-renowned architect and designer. He was born in Milan in 1935, and he graduated in architecture from the Politecnico in 1969. His career as a designer began in 1963 when he became a consultant for industrial design at Olivetti. He went on to collaborate with important Italian and international companies, including B&B, Cassina, Flou, Renault, Rosenthal, Tecno, Riva 1920, Vitra, Kartell, among others. He has received the Compasso d'Oro award eight times, and 25 of his works are included in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York, where he had a retrospective exhibition dedicated to him in 1987. From 1985 to 1991, he served as the director of the magazine Domus. He has designed numerous art and architecture exhibitions in Italy and abroad. In 2015, the Triennale di Milano awarded him the Golden Medal for Architecture in recognition of his career, and in 2017, they organized a retrospective exhibition dedicated to him, followed by a worldwide tour. Among the buildings designed and realized by Bellini are the Portello district of Fiera Milano, the Exhibition and Congress Center of Villa Erba in Cernobbio (Como), the Tokyo Design Center in Japan, the Natuzzi America Headquarters in the United States, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, the Deutsche Bank Headquarters in Frankfurt, the Museum of the History of the City of Bologna, the building for the Department of Islamic Arts at the Louvre in Paris, the new Congress Center in Milan, the international Airterminal T3 in Rome, and many other ongoing projects. /
